I can sure see Willie getting his back up if he gets asked about playing Marlon Anderson. He’ll have to get asked if he has a problem with Milledge.
To me its not about Marlon Anderson playing, I actually like Marlon Anderson alot its about NOT having Milledge in Center for a better defense.
Marlon Anderson can easily replace Shawn Green in the lineup as well as in RF, Green has had only 2 RBI since June 25th… TWO!
milledges problem is that hes not in his mid thirties. cause other than reyes and wright, since willie has gotten here he gives youngers players a very short leash, and veteran/declining players as much time as possible cause they have track records.
For instance, shawn green is in no danger of losing his job,but he has a track record. Once upon a time he was really one of the best players in baseball, unfortunatley that was about 3-4 years ago,and hes been in sharp, rapid decline since.
I want to root for willie, but hes making me less and less confident in his abilities as a manager. He has no ingenuity. He rarely double switches,he avoids platoons,he doesnt run the wheel play,he pretty much never suicide squeezes.
I could go on,but whatever,I’ll end my long negative post now.
nice job by the Mets of laying into Vargas and getting into the Brewers pen early. That could help them win tomorrow if only Lima Time #2 wasn’t starting for the Mets.
The Brewers could have been more patient last night and routed Glavine on account of that tiny strike zone, but didnt. So its nice to see the Mets take advantage of the shortage of pitchers tonight.
Its not about Anderson replacing Milledge. Its Green continuing to play. When he has 8 RBI in 2 months.By contrast Milledge had that amount in one week and Marlon has half of that in one night.
bizzaro game tonight
How often do you see 17 strikeouts through 6 innings with a 8-5 score? Shouldnt it be 2-2 tonight instead of last night when there was no such thing as a called strike?
I prefer Anderson to Green, as well.
If you wanna slot in Anderson over Green, mazeltov.
But NOT ONLY is Milledge the best outfield bat they have until Alou wakes up and Beltran gets healthy… but he’s also the only actual centrefielder on the roster with Beltran hurt.
When they’re all healthy, Alou Beltran and Milledge have to be your outfield but Anderson’s probably gonna give you more than Green if one of the above is gone.
Maybe we should cut Randolph some slack. The team did win wiyh Anderson and Green both homering. Even my pet whipping boy Mota had two shutout innings. A manager does have to play his scrubs occasionally to have the regulars fresh in October.
There is a colourful tale about the sunshine and the hindside of a dog which delightfully applies to this situation, Dan.
If your wife spent your life savings on lottery tickets and won, we will say, it would be really nice.
It would also be the dumbest luck in the whole damned world and would be in no way an endorsement of everyone spending their lives’ savings on the Lotto.
If you want guys fresh in October, more reason to bench Green. He may have homered to give him 3 whole RBIs this summer, but he can only play DH and we don’t use anymore this season. I don’t often agree with Mike C but Milledge should be in CF until Beltran, Chavez or Gomez return, which is probably next year.
Milledge got a day off. Who cares?
I agree with everyone here. Lastings should have been in center, Alou in left and Anderson in right.
No way you ‘rest’ Milledge unless he is having an issue in the field or the plate.
He needs to play not rest.
