Mets DL Beltran

July
31

As expected, the Mets put Carlos Beltran on the DL with a strained left oblique. Taking his spot on the roster is Luis Castillo.

So I take it this means that Easley is gonna be looked at as more of a corner outfielder now?

With Beltran down, he’s probably the third best bat on this team that can play the outfield with Marlon’s early success proving to be a fluke and Green proving himself essentially done as an everyday player.

Lets not have any brain-dead comments questioning Beltran’s courage. I’m talking to you Billy.

I’m glad they DL’ed Beltran, let him rest up, get completely healthy, and then come back, we all know what kind of player he can be when he’s healthy, and I’m sure his quads needed the additinoal rest as well. As long as we can keep wining, its fine.

Thank you Taylor for your pre-emptive strike!
Mike C. How many at bats do you think one needs to show how good or bad they are. Green I agree, but Marlon has too few at bats too know anything yet.

I dread the outfield if Milledge were to go down again. Who would we put in center? Easley or Alou or Newhan???
    We are decimated out there.

Mike C.: hopefully, though I doubt we see as much of that as we would like. Easley is probably now the util guy that Willie seems to like to save for last.
I guess for the short term I wouldnt mind seeing Alou/Anderson and Easley/Green platoons while Beltran gets right.

At least this time the team didnt let Beltran dick them around with his daily ‘we’ll see tomorrow’ updates. Given that his legs have been bothering him as well this year its best he shuts it down for a week or two.

Geez…We haven’t had our opening day lineup on the field since May 12th.
