GM Omar Minaya said “Carlos Beltran”:http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=6132 will likely go on the disabled list. When a GM says that, it means yes. Beltran didn’t go with the team to Milwaukee today.
The move hasn’t been made, yet. The team is discussing its call-up options.

I’m surprised he tipped his hand, before the deadline. If he is looking at say a Conine 1B/OF bench player, Beltran DL may raise the price. I thought he’d DL him after 4 when all the cards were played. like with sanchez last year..
Beltran has not played since the 24th. Other GMs probably realized he would go on the DL so Minaya decided to make it official. No sense in playing games 100% of the time.
I hope the call up is a trade. The pool left in the minors is horrid right now. Between the bigs and AA and AAA the Mets had to have set a record for outfielders going down. All four from the Mets and all the starters from New Orleans and F-Mart from the B-Mets. I guess Johnson is playing again but he didn’t show much in his brief stay. But another chance may be his if there is no trade.
Sorry Guys, but I am sick and tired of Beltran, gave him a pass at looking at strike 3 last year, but what a pussy this guy is…(sorry, but Derek Jeter would never do this to the Yanks)....Vladimir, where are u!!!!!!!!!God move with Castillo, he will help….and they better not trade Milledge…..PS – Shawn, jus go home, won’t have to wash your uni…it never gets dirty….
The real problem with Beltran going on the DL is the lack of OF depth. There is nothing in the system to help out. Unless Omar can find something and give up low level prospects the OF will have to be Alou (pray he stays healthy), Lastings and Green. Use Easley and Anderson to spell Alou. The problem with Beltran on the DL is that Wright has to move up to the three hole and Delgado gets back the cleanup roll. Where does Lastings bat, it can’t be 8, Castillo has 2nd spot. Maybe bat him 6 after Alou. Green 7, LoDuca/Castro 8. That is really a pretty decent lineup all things considered.
Good trade for Castillo, but I thought for sure they’d make a move for a proven OF power hitter.
Maybe we are better off without Beltran. His defense may be missed, but his offense is so inconsistent. What has he done for this team lately.maybe one of the bench players can give us a couple hits per game which is better than Beltran has been doing.I’m a huge Beltran fan but I am very disappointed with his performance this year.
