Carlos will miss at least a week to 10 days. That's what abdominal strains run, and that's on the short side. There's nothing you can do for that but rest it.

Milledge will be fine defensively in center in the meantime. Where there may be a problem is that Beltran is so good in center, even when he's not hitting, we can get away with deadwood (Green), inexperience (Milledge), and limited talent (Anderson) in the corners. LMillz will handle his spot in center, as that's his natural position, but I have some concern about his ability to makeup for the deficiencies in the corners the way Beltran can.

As for Grudzielanek, it totally depends on the cost. Gotay is the 2nd baseman of the future in all likelihood and Grudzielanek doesn't stand in the way of that. However, I don't know that he's a significant enough upgrade to make 2nd base a + position for us. So I wouldn't give up much more than money to get him.

Hopefully Carlos misses just a few games. We cannot afford to lose him.

Milledge - I am cautiosly optomistic about him. I worry about his D and the sustainability at the plate. He has been great so far in the past 2 weeks.

Alou - About a month ago I assumed he did not exist. After mild interest last week with all the talk of his return I will think of it as a pleasant surprise if I see him in a Met uniform ever again.

2B - If we can upgrade this position great. If not I hope for the best. I would like to see the young guys grab the position but I would not want to bet the season on it.

OF - I still think we need to make a move here. Dye's name keeps popping up. If he is cheap I would get him. His avg sucks but he has been scoring and driving in runners the past month. He seems like a 2nd half guy to me anyway so he might be able to help us. We need depth and do not have it.

I think HoJo has helped out the batting tremedously.
Also since he is from 86 Mets he knows that a pitcher needs to hit. and we have decent hitting pitchers this year.

I have no concerns about Milledge. frankly, i have more confidence in milledge in getting a hit with men in scoring position than beltran

I think Moises Alou will be fine. Also, worried about Lastings? No way, he will be great.

I think Mark G. would be an upgrade at second base, but for a marginal upgrade, the Mets shouldn't trade a lot to get him.
