How long will it be before “Pedro Martinez”:http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=4875 is waving to a crowd again? On July 3, the Mets shut down Martinez, saying they wanted him to recharge his mental and physical batteries. The said he wouldn’t do anything for a week to ten days. GM Omar Minaya said before tonight’s game that Martinez has not had a setback.
“We’re dealing with an injury,’’ Minaya said. “The body will tell him whether it is right or wrong. We don’t want to put a date on it.’’
However, Minaya did say: “I feel very confident he’ll pitch for the Mets this year.’‘

john,
Isn’t this called a set back….
I think it’s called simply taking your time. I really don’t think the Mets are spinning it. I think they’re just being ultra-conservative here because if there is a serious setback, this could be it for him given his age.
wait im very confused…he’s had another injury? what exactly does this mean?
Darling earlier this year talked about his injury how scar tissue needs to be broken, etc.
Unless something has happened it could be normal pain or whatever. Who knows?
Unless John or someone has talked to him it is just expectations.
