On July 3, the Mets shut down Martinez, saying they wanted him to recharge his mental and physical batteries. The said he wouldn’t do anything for a week to ten days. GM Omar Minaya said before tonight’s game that Martinez has not had a setback.
“WeÃ¢â‚¬â„¢re dealing with an injury,Ã¢â‚¬â„¢Ã¢â‚¬â„¢ Minaya said. “The body will tell him whether it is right or wrong. We donÃ¢â‚¬â„¢t want to put a date on it.”
However, Minaya did say: “I feel very confident heÃ¢â‚¬â„¢ll pitch for the Mets this year.”
