If you were to call “Jorge Sosa”:http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=6885 the Mets’ first-half MVP you wouldn’t get much argument from me. Take away his 7-3 and who knows were the Mets are.
Sosa’s problem in spring training was mechanical. His shoulder was flying open too soon and basically he was flinging the ball rather than using his whole body. He’s worked that out and for the most part has been able to keep the ball low in the K-Zone.
A strong start for Sosa tonight, just like the start Oliver Perez gave the Mets Sunday, is very important for this team. Afterall, if you’re not going to score a lot of runs you’d better prevent the other guy from scoring.
