Just back from the field and talking with assistant GM John Ricco. Here’s what’s happening:
-Carlos Gomez does have a fracture. He’ll have surgery today and be out 6-8 weeks. He was placed on the DL and David Newhan brought up. Newhan will arrive shortly, maybe by gametime.
-Lastings Milledge was moved up to Double-A. Ricco said the Mets need to see more of Milledge. But, it’s not impossible he could come back shortly after the break.
-Oliver Perez played catch today in Florida. Sosa long-tossed yesterday and had today off. Perez is ahead of Sosa. He might get back in the rotation when the second half starts.
More news when I get it. From my ears to your computer screen.
