Guillermo Mota in to replace Orlando Hernandez. Duque goes four in his shortest outing of the season. Hernandez didn’t look right tonight. Two plays into the game he was in a bang-band play covering first, and walked back to the mound very slowly.
Maybe he tweaked something. Maybe he was winded in the Rocky Mountain air. Maybe he likes to take his time walking back to the mound.
The next batter doubled and it was all downhill from there.

John,
What’s wrong with this team? It’s as if their 8-1 stretch never happened.
They just don’t look like they want it as much as the teams they play.
After Tulowitzki took the called 2nd strike on the fastball, how many of you were thinking “Mota, he’s sitting on the change-up, double up on that fastball. Don’t throw him a change-up. Don’t throw him a change-up. Don’t throw him a change-up. Don’t… DAMNIT!”
He’s just so predictable it’s like clock-work – any time he gets 2 strikes on a batter you know the change-up is coming. I don’t think I’ve seen him throw a 2-strike fastball all season.
Mediocre baseball and there’s no fight in these guys. RANDOLPH…..that’s your fault!
The crew @ sny pretty much ripped Mota. Questioned the signing ( we bid against ourselves ) and the whole ‘roids thing.
Perhaps this is normal not having your timing after a layoff, but he had a bad season in Cleveland until late in the ‘roids yr. And he sucks now.
How long is his contract?
Two year deal. Suppose he is juicing and pitching like this….
I hope it is not 2 yrs @ 7.70 era..
