So he’ll probably be suspended for both games or the Saturday game this weekend.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the two game suspension was upheld, but it is ironic that the umpires continue to make bad call after bad call. The current group of umpires is taking the game of baseball down a notch.

If they’re bringing up Alomar, then they have to clear a spot on the 40-man roster, no?

They’re avoiding DL-ing Franco every way they can, aren’t they?
I’m not saying that you can immediately DFA Franco because of sentimental reasons (though those are the only reasons) but…
If he can’t even run out a bobbled grounder in his only plate appearence, he isn’t healthy enough to be on the active roster.

i was just long tossing before outside with a baseball…jose reyes really has a freaken canon if he can throw like that…haha this isn’t relevant but nice to know he should get a gold glove this year

Alomar has been hitting in the .320’s all year at AAA. Wouldn’t be so terrible to see him get a start, assuming he can still get up out of a squat.
I think the Mets have painted themselves into an imaginary corner wrt Franco. They don’t want to see themselves as ending the career of a beloved (apparently) old man who thinks he can play another two years. Time to make some decisions though, methinks.
It would also be good to have some flexibility on the bench, say, a guy who is really a reserve outfielder (Easley doesn’t count) or a guy who can sub in on the left side of the infield (Franco and Gotay don’t count.)
As of tonight, they’re carrying three second basemen, three catchers, and Franco. That’s just not good personnel management by anyone’s standards.
While they are carrying three catchers, keep in mind its a temporary thing so that when Lo Duca serves his suspension they have an option beside Castro, aside from Stache. As far as a lack of reserve outfielder, it seems like the only solution, assuming Alou is never coming back, is to make a move for an everyday outfielder. Since the sole other AAA options are Johnson (who came up and didn’t do so much) and Chip Ambres (his name is Chip. which means he can’t be a Met).
