Perez says he’s doubtful for Tuesday

Posted by: John Delcos - Posted in Uncategorized on Jul 01, 2007

Oliver Perez said his tight lower back is feeling better, but didn’t think it would improve enough to enable him to start Tuesday at Colorado.

At first Perez said he didn’t think he would pitch, then later added, “I don’t want to pitch Tuesday.”

He said this based on how he is currently feeling, and if he were to feel the same way Tuesday he wouldn’t want to pitch. Perez also said if he were feeling discomfort he wouldn’t want to risk it and that it would be better for him to rest for the second half.

Can you explain what he meant by he did not “want” to pitch. That does not sound like it is a stiffness problem, since it is Sunday and who knows how he will feel two days from now. Does he not like the stadium, pitching against the team, or is there another injury we do not know about?

    how is monday then, honey?

So it’s official now. He’ll miss his next two starts. As a fan, I’ll miss him but at the same time want him to get ready for the second half. Feel better soon, Ollie!
