Sosa injury update

Posted by: John Delcos - Posted in Uncategorized on Jun 30, 2007

Jorge Sosa said his strained left hamstring feels better than it did an hour or so ago, but then again he’s been sitting on ice for that time. Sosa said he doesn’t think he will miss his next start, but that means nothing now.

We’ll know more in the morning, especially if it stiffens. Trying to be logical for a moment, it would be crazy for him to try it. He’s next scheduled for Thursday in Houston, which would be his last before the All-Star break.

The smart thing would be to shut him down for the rest of the first half, which should mean putting him on the DL to make room for Mike Pelfrey. Why send somebody else out to the minors to hang on to Sosa in the off-chance he makes that start?

Shut him down now and be done with it.

I agree, 15 days with the break is one start, which he porbably won’t be able to do anyway. If they don’t DL him, Sele is released????? He’s invisible anyway.

I have the same question as Mel: Why not just start Sele in Oli’s place tomorrow? Granted, I wouldn’t be asking if Pelfrey were even 2-3 instead of 0-5 and was sent down.
And for as much as I’ve ripped Scott Schoeneweis on this page, I must give him props for a scoreless inning today.

Start Sele? Thats insane. Give Pelf a chance, he wasnt great but he wasn’t terrible in his last few starts before he got sent down

I think it would be Brian Lawrence instead of Sele. In fact, Brian Lawrence could replace Sele at some point if he keeps pitching well and gets a shot to make a spot start. Vargas would probably be next, although he hasn’t been particularly impressive, and could easily be passed by Humber if he picks it up in the second half.

I had no idea that Sho-who I’d started calling “ethanol” (so as not to be confused with “gas”)-had been so beat up at Shea but untouched on the road. I knew he was better on the road, but an ERA of 9+ to 0?

    What the???

I would think that Dave Williams will soon replace Sele, He would have been the long man going in if not for injury and Sele hasn’t earned the spot.
