Why the hell did Willie decide to put Wagner in and then warm up Joe Smith that quickly?? 3 yrs as manager and he still has no clue about how to handle his pen. Smith should have come in from the start…now Wagner is likely unavailable for tomorrow.
Willie is one of the worst managers in baseball he just gets saved because he has a good team..
When a team is struggling he does nothing to get them going.. no hit and run no squeeze no nothing
Well thankfully Wagner had enough to close it out, but I still disagree 100% with putting him in there. He’d already pitched in game 1, you have two more games to go, and you’re up 4 right now.
He’s not one of the worst managers in baseball…that’s just a purely clueless statement. He does tend to make some head scratching decisions though, but manages to get by on them. I dunno….hopefully they don’t come down to a situation where they need Wagner tomorrow.
Funny thing is though…I bet he’d still send Wagner out there again tomorrow.
Pitching Joe Smith against Bourn (LEFTY), Utley (LEFTY) and Howard (LEFTY) would have been the dumb manager move. The choice was Wags or Feliciano. Just think how you all would have blasted Willie for letting a rookie give the game away. Its not easy managing a pen with only 2 guys you can trust and both are lefty. Willie played it the right way. He’s trying to bury the Phils, especially after the last series with them.
