ANALYSIS
John Maine and Orlando Hernandez combined to give up four runs as the Mets’ starters continued their torrid run and their heretofore slumbering offense awoke with five homers in the double-header sweep (Carlos Beltran hit two, and Carlos Delgado, Jose Reyes and Damion Easley one each).
NOTEBOOK
-Orlando Hernandez asked to start the first game because he said he didn’t want to take the chance of having to wait because of a rain delay or extra innings.
-David Wright’s double in the first game to gave him 118 for his career to tie him for 15th place with Todd Hundley on the club’s all-time list.
-Not a good day for Guillermo Mota who gave up a two-run homer to Wes Helms in the first game.

John Maine rules!
He deserves to go to SF as an NL All-Star. Props to Omar and his scouts for sneaking him in the back door in the Anna Benson deal.
No props to bush leaguer Cole Hamels for trying to drill Jose Reyes. Ironically, looks like Reyes and Hamels will be NL All-Star teammates.
Why do I get the feeling we’re going to have a bench-clearing brawl this season with Cole Hamels being an instigator?
