Jose Valentin’s right knee is still barking and he’s sitting out tonight.
With him gimpy the Mets might opt to keep Ruben Gotay over Ricky Ledee when they bring up Mike Pelfrey to start the second game of the Philly double-header tomorrow.
I have a better idea send Scott Schoenweis to AAA, so he can learn how to get batters out.
This might get me booed, but with a need in the bullpen and a power hitter off the bench/left field, how about trying to acquire Gagne and Sosa from the Rangers. If we can get them without giving up too much.
Gagne would be awesome. I’m not sold on Sosa. He’s hit 13 home runs, but his OPS and SLG are low. He has driven in 61 but struck out 71 times.
If they didn’t have to give up much, and if the only way to get Gagne would be to take Sosa I would to it. He might actually help a bit.
No booing! :)
Any good bars up in the Roc to catch games at? I’ve been having cable issues in my apt, and have been trying to find somewhere that doesn’t shove the Mets onto the little tv in the back.
I always ask when I go out to a bar for them to put on the game, the only problem is you never get the sound. TC Hooligan’s in Webster has a large selection of high definition TV’s. They are also great for football games.
If you send down Gotay you are almost forced to bring up Newhan or Anderson Hernandez the next day so there is an infielder on the bench. If you send down Ledee you can bring up Johnson, or if you release Sele you can bring up Dave Williams on Saturday. This is my preference. I don’t like 4 man bench with Valentin gimpy, Franco apparently gimpy, and Castro limited to 1 position. If you are short one never used pitcher the only risk is if Pelfrey gets bombed and you just leave him in there. If he can’t pitch in the bigs because of nerves one more bombing won’t matter. He either is or isn’t major league material. If he is, he can handle adversity one more time if it happens.
I’ve done ACME a few times, some of the management is Met friendly. But if he’s not in, you get stuck with a small tv, no sound, no captions. Downtown Distillary often has every single tv on Yankees or Sox. Luckily most of my NY Giant games are on regular tv.
