In 1962, the Mets signed 17-year-old “Ed Kranepool”:http://www.baseball-reference.com/k/kraneed01.shtml from James Monroe High School in the Bronx.
When I first started following baseball, Kranepool was the player I first associated with the Mets. Maybe it was because how Bob Murphy pronounced his name.
I never met him, but always wanted to. If you have an Ed Kranepool memory, please share it.

I know Ed, He washes my car
Kranepool brought his mother with him to his first Spring Training in 1963.
He retired when I was 4 so I don’t really have any memories of him other than having some of his baseball cards. My aunt, though, still thinks Ed was the bee’s knees.
I saw is last game,it was my first. :-(
