Scott needs some time in the Big Easy. But last night wasn’t all his fault. Not by a long shot. In addition to the Mets inefficiency to hit garbage Cards’ pitchers, two key plays last night was the reason for the Mets doom. Hint: He made the last out. By the way, there will be no mention or excuses made here of injuries or leg braces. Plain and simple: Valentin lost the game for the Mets Tuesday night-a game where runs and hits were almost as much at a premium as the night before. But the Mets offense did come alive toward the end of this amusement park ride only to fall short by thismuch. In such a tight game where there was little margin for error, Jose Valentin muffed two key groundersone was ruled a hit (7th inning) and one an error (11th inning). But both were playable. The frustrating thing about both grounders was that each muff enabled the lowly Cards to score a run with 2 out, and since the final score was 5-3, that made them extremely costly bobbles. (Funny, I didn’t see Willie publicly raggin’ on Jose in the dugout for either of his 2 huge miscues. I guess Wright deserved Willie’s wrath moreso on Monday night for his HUGE miscue by attempting to steal 2nd and getting caught in a rundown-uh huh).
Valentin appeared to make reparations in the form of an RBI double in the 9th to tie it at 3. Alas, the carny ride was not over yet as the Cards went ahead in the top of the 11th with a Brandon Ryan HR and later scored an insurance run courtesy of Jose’s second muff. Then, as poetic as any St. Louis fan could hope for, Valentin made the final out of the game.
Gee, Valentin must be completely well and playing at 100%, otherwise Willie wouldn’t put him in, right? (Wait, I said I wasn’t gonna mention anything about any injuries or leg braces-sorry, my bad). After the game, I was almost mad enough to do like Willie was reported to have done in LA and throw a chair into the clubhouse door. (I bet that story might have been slightly misrepresented as I have a feeling that he just placed the chair at the door to serve as a doorstop to enable his team to make a fast getaway to LAX). The Mets PR guys may have to ratchet Willie’s “tough” stories up a bit - at least for the sake of the team. I mean, if you’re gonna spin a yarn, at least make it a believelable one and one that also promotes team spirit. After all, Lo Duca can do just so much in that department.
Like Mr. Wolf said, “If I am curt, it’s because we’re not quite out of the woods yet, gentlemen.”

It’s time for the Show to go, either to the DL, AAA or the unemployment line.
Either way, as a Met, it’s over for him. He isn’t getting any better any time soon with the situation the way it is.
What could get worse? Us being stuck with his ineffective ass for two more years at $3.6M per.
