Omar talking to Sox: How’s Vazquez sound?

Mets GM Omar Minaya said he’s working the phones in the trade market, but nothing is imminent. “I’m just checking in right now,’’ he said. White Sox GM Ken Williams got a call.

“If a guy says he’s going to make trades, I figure I owe it to myself to see who is available,’’ Minaya said.

Just about everybody there is. Mark Buehrle seems headed to the Red Sox, but Jermaine Dye and “Javier Vazquez”:http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=5947 are on the block. So is Jose Contreras. Minaya has a history with Vazquez, so that’s where I figure he’ll turn his attention.

Like everything else when it comes to trading, it depends on who the Mets pick up. Kenny Wlliams will surely be looking for some young pitching. I’d be willing to give up Humber I guess… but I also would like to see what Humber will do next season as we all have to remember that he is still coming back from Tommy John…

Javy Vazquez is one of the most frusterating pitchers around. A Gem one game, a disaster another. Cruising along one game and then the wheels fall off in the 6th…
