run the bases. what happens at home plate is another story its the team thanking him. see the difference between Gomez plat jaunt and Greene's one was professional the other was a little kid. thats why the professional got a greeting when he ran home..

I agree with Dan and Andrew. I don't think the other team cares either (including the Mets) as there is never retaliation anymore. Enthusiasm is not a vice. We heard the same complaints about Milledge last year when he got so excited about his first homer. When they use their cell phone rounding the bases we'll say they've gone too far.

It seems like we want it both ways. When they're losing everyone wants to see some fire from these guys. When we hit homeruns we want them to stop celebrating and act like they've done it before.

Personally, I've always liked Reyes and his crazy little celebrations. Especially the Reyes/Wright hr shake/hug.

John,
I usually agree with you, but on this one, I cannot.

Watching these young guys, especially Reyes, dance and celebrate like little kids is one of my favorite parts of the game. They are out there because they enjoy the game, and it's still fun for them. It's sad to see a player do something great, and then just walk away like its nothing. They do it for the fans as much as they do it for themselves. Baseball is entertainment, and these Mets are pretty darn entertaining to watch.
