Delcos—Have you spent the last 24 hours mourning the death of Bob Evans?
Gotta be more patient at the plate, gotta get healthy, gotta shuffle the back-end of that bullpen. If they can stop pressing, pressing on the mound, pressing at the plate and then just let a lot of people heal… they’ll be in mostly good shape.
If you get Chavez and Milledge back, if you get Pedro and one or two of the injured relievers back, if you let dinged-up-but-not-DL-ed guys like Beltran Easley Green Valentin and LoDuca heal…
If you have the guts to DFA Sele and Ledee and DL Horror Show as the rest of the guys come back and explain to Grandpa Franco that he is only a pinch-hitter now…
The only lasting problems you have are the back-end of the bullpen and whatever in God’s name is wrong with Delgado.
Play smarter while you’re healing and make the smart choices once you’re healed and the Mets will be basically okay.
It’s just that… they’re not playing smart right now and I fear Omar and Willie will make some dumb choices to stay with “good veteran guys” who are injured or at the end of the line instead of playing the young guys with the potential.
We’ll see.
