Pedro circa 2000 or so would be nice! We need a true ace, Glavine isn’t one.

There is no ace, at least in the true sense of the word, with the Mets.
They need another bat. They’ve essentially got three middle-of-the-order hitters (Beltran, Delgado, Alou) on the DL. They need a fresh, healthy, competent bat in the middle of their order.
they need a 1st baseman. :-p
I wouldn’t do much to the offense.
I like that the team is talking about Mark Buehrle from the ChiSox. I’m not sure what the length is on his current deal. I tend not to want to get into situations where we’re renting a player with no real shot at re-signing him in the off-season.
Why is Sele still on the team? Last night was the first game I remember him working in forever. Can’t we bring up Vargas? Santiago? Bostick? Anyone….It seems everytime Sele gets in there he cannot get anyone out anyway.
Sele and Felicano both. how many times has it screwed over the starting pitcher?
its losing streaks like these that highlight our shortcomings. its amazing our beginning season was so good. ;-]
Right handed bat in corner outfield to come in off the bench…could be Milledge.
Bullpen help…true set up man for Wags…Brad Lidge. With the arrival of Pedro and/or a new Ace would have me opt Sele to minors and replace him with either Dave Williams or Jorge Sosa. In the playoffs, that long man should be El Duque.
Real Ace for this year and in the future. Counting on Pedro after the type of surgery he has gone through is crazy. Ollie Perez and Johnny Maine have been tremendous. But they are great #2 or #3 guys in your rotation. We need an anchor that can go out and win 16 to 20 games in a year. Buehrle from the Sox could be that guy…the only problem is that he is going to expect the world at the end of this season. Frankly, I would give it to him.
Lidge went on the DL this morning so he is out.

That’s all that’s missing right now. They are just playing head’s down baseball. It will stop. Still, having Pedro in the clubhouse would be a big boost. He provides the drive, the laughter, and the winner’s mentality. to a great extent. And it wouldn’t hurt for one of the Carlos fellas, as Mex said, to step up.
I think we have way too many carlos’ actually.
I agree with CLM. It seems you need a bit of fire on this team. Right now we need to get healthy.
We need an OF. If/When Milledge comes back and Endy we will have enuf depth to offset the other offensive woes. Too many are hurt and the bench is thin.
By the end of July we should be able to fill left field with someone. Else we may be forced to trade.
A better rotation would be good altho I am pleasantly surprised with what we have. I am sure Omar will do right for this team and not be an idiot like the previous few iterations of wannabe GM’s we have had here.
