Carlos Delgado said being Roger Clemens’ teammate won’t help him tonight. “There’s not a lot of surprises with him,’’ Delgado said. “When he needs an out he’ll throw his splitter.’’
Talking with a couple of Yankees, and the thinking there is Clemens will need a few games before he’s sharp. If Clemens is off tonight, I would expect to see the Mets try to run up his pitch count. But, if he has it going they can’t afford to be taking much because that will lead to a lot of 1-and-2 counts.
