It’s one thing to get whipped, but the Mets have shown some bad signs tonight.
Jose Reyes took his time getting to first on a ground out and just now dropped a throw that could have started a double-play. Pedro Feliciano also dogged it in backing up third in the seventh.
The Mets haven’t played well, that’s no secret, but tonight they look like a beaten, dejected team. Their heads are down between pitches. They look like a team that is playing after a red-eye flight as opposed to a team that’s a few hours from boarding a plane.

Where is Willie Randolph through all of this? The disappointed and angered look on his face the last few games has not be seen and/or understood by his players. Their lack of hustle is a prime example. One can only hope that the thought of facing the Yankees will spark the team, because Willie has yet to do so during this recent losing spree. It is easy to look good when you are winning. Now it is gut check time and we will really see how good Randolph can be as a manager and motivator.
