Shawn Green was activated from the DL and is in the line-up in right and batting second. A local deli greeted him with two huge corned beef sandwiches waiting in his locker. Green said he feels good and likes the idea of facing Dodgers lefty Randy Wolf tonight, saying “you stay in there a little longer,’’ against a lefty.
Other notes:
-Moises Alou had another MRI on his strained quad. More inflammation was found. “Nothing’s better. He’s not going to play anytime soon,’’ manager Willie Randolph said.
-The Mets shut down minor league reliever Ambiorix Burgos with a sore right elbow. Randolph said tests were run but there’s no diagnosis yet.
-Damion Easley’s right knee is still sore.
-Randolph said he checks in with Jose Valentin to make sure his knee is all right.
-John Maine (6-3, 2.78) vs. Hong-Chih Kuo (0-1, 4.85) will go tomorrow with Jorge Sosa (6-1, 2.64) vs. Brad Penny (7-1, 2.26) on Wednesday.

Easley now too.?!
ugh…
Bad news regarding Burgos. I had him pencilled in as Schoeneweis’ replacement.
Were those sandwiches from Cantor’s deli, the 24-hour place in the Fairfax District?
To Larry (RE: Sandwiches)
Yes they were. Green says he loves the place. You been there? Should I go?
Yes, you should. The sandwiches are tremendous and probably better than anything at the ballpark. It’s located at 419 N. Fairfax, which is between Melrose and Beverly in the Fairfax district. I go on every trip I make out to Los Angeles.
