Just up from the clubhouse … quiet day so far. Let’s get caught up on what’s happening while the Mets take BP:
-Nothing new on Moises Alou. He could go down to Port St. Lucie for rehab work. There’s no sense in him going to LA.
-Carlos Gomez starting today in right. Willie Randolph said ideally Gomez needs to play everyday, but with Alou and Endy Chavez down, he’ll stay up here.
-Shawn Green says he’s ready to come off the DL on Sunday. Randolph said maybe tomorrow or Monday. Willie always likes to dance around on these things, but I’m counting on Green playing tomorrow.
-Damion Easley tested his sore right knee with light jogging and BP. He doesn’t anticipate going on the DL.
-Pedro Martinez threw 40 pitches off the mound Friday.
-Outfielder Caleb Stewart from Double-A Binghamton was named Eastern League Player of the Month for May.
-Today’s starter Oliver Perez has gone at least seven innings in his last five starts.

By mentioning Caleb Stewart are you trying to tell us that he is a callup possiblity?
Dont scare me like that John – I thought from that headline that Alou was going to be traded to the Marlins! Thanks for the Pedro update.
All signs point to Ben Johnson being demoted I guess…
I doubt we’ll see Stewart, even in Sept. He’s never completed a season in the minors, and never played at AAA.

Sorry, no. Just trying to pass along some minor league info. I should have been more specific. I have been toying with several things for the blog, one of them a regular minor league report. If you’d like something like that let me know.

John-
I think a regular minor league report would be great. Not just daily stats, though—some general overview would be good. It´s helpful for us to know which top prospects have a nagging injury(eg-F.Martinez, who´s be PHing and PRing lately), who changes levels, who has some off-field issues (eg-Abreu), etc. Also some evaluation beyond the numbers—who´s doing better than expected despite not having great numbers, etc. Thanks for considering the feature.
John- sorry, another point. For example, with Corey Coles and Caleb Stewart doing so well at AA, what is the organization´s current view of them? Given a perceived lack of depth at middle IF in the system, has the team considered having someone (like coles or stewart) learn 2B? etc…
