Endy Chavez pulled his left hamstring and will go on the disabled list. They are likely to DL him and activate Jose Valentin. The first thought when I saw Chavez grab his left hammy was not whether he’d go on the DL, but how long he’d be there.
-Orlando Hernandez had a rocky start but rebounded to throw six scoreless. Hernandez has given up three runs in his last 33 innings (0.82 ERA).
-Carlos Beltran’s homer in the fourth snapped a dry spell of 57 at-bats between long balls.
-David Wright has an eight-game hitting streak going.
-Jose Reyes has at least one hit in 21 of his last 22 games against the Phillies.

I was at this game ,was a very good game.
The only thing I hate more than a hitter swinging at ball four is when they proceed to ground into a double play and injure themselves in the process right after. Endy has morphed into big swing Endy again anyway, and he’s left a small army on the bases the last few days. Maybe a DL stint will get him back to the slap hitter he was last year…
With hamstring injuries, I’d always guess more than what the intial diagnosis. The best example I can think of is Robinson Cano. Cano injured his hamstring June 25 and they said like four weeks and he did not return until mid-August.
