Aaron Heilman out to start the seventh for the Mets, and to tell you the truth, with the way this one started I didn’t Orlando Hernandez would have made it this long. But, the guy knows how to pitch.
He gave them six despite throwing 39 pitches in the first two innings. Pitch counts are the measure of pitchers these days, and that’s high. But, there are other things besides the 99 pitches he threw tonight to evaluate a pitcher. Things like grit and heart.
