ANALYSIS
Orlando Hernandez overcame a rocky first inning to give the Mets seven strong. He’s answered the durability issues, going seven innings in four of seven starts. However, tonight’s issue is Carlos Beltran’s bruised right knee. He’ll have a MRI tomorrow and is day-to-day. Bad news would put all three of the Mets’ Opening Day outfielders on the DL.
NOTES
-The Mets have a 10-game errorless streak, two games shy of tying the franchise record.
-Jose Valentin went 0-for-4 in an extended spring game.
-Billy Wagner has converted 31 straight save opportunities dating back to last year.

The El Duque column this morning is a gem. Willie and Omar knew what they were doing when they staffed this team – it’s a wide, varied mix, but it works thanks to their people and baseball skills and knowledge.
