When it comes to not hustling or not thinking, Willie Randolph is pretty quick to say something. He usually does this face-to-face and not call out a player in front of his teammates. Not unless it is a chronic thing.
Randolph gave Carlos Delgado a pass for not getting out of the box fast when he was thrown out. He said power hitters are often slow out of the box. He did say David Wright should have been running on that play at first. “When you don’t run things out you can embarrass yourself,” Randolph said. “I’m sure he was.”
Wright admitted so later.
For the most part the Mets hustle and don’t dog it. But, nobody goes 100 percent all out 100 percent of the time.
