The Mets got what they needed, and that was a sign Orlando Hernandez was back. Two hits in six scoreless couldn’t have been any brighter a sign had it been in neon. Without question, what they got from Hernandez was the most important thing coming out of the game.
-Two more hits by Carlos Delgado, both to left field. A real good sign.
-Pedro Martinez visits and said he’s feeling fine. He throws a dig at Roger Clemens, but despite his optimism there’s not a definitive date as to when he’ll throw off the mound.
-Shawn Green is day-to-day after fracturing a small bone in his right foot when he fouled a ball off it in the fifth inning.
-Barring a rainout with Triple-A New Orleans, reliever Guillermo Mota will be re-instated from the suspended list Wednesday.
-Moises Alou could be activated from the DL Tuesday.
-Lastings Milledge has started jogging. He’s on the minor league DL with a strained foot.
-GM Omar Minaya said Jose Valentin (right knee) and could be activated from the DL within two weeks.
