David Wright was overmatched tonight with three strikeouts, two called. The first one called ended the third when the Mets had the bases loaded. Little did we know it at the time, but that would be their best chance to get back in the game.
Personally, I don’t think you can blame him for that first strikeout as it was obviously the wrong call. Who knows what happens if it’s correctly called a checked swing and he gets another shot?

This game was super frustrating, especially when it ends with Jose Reyes, who we’ve come to expect will always get it done, popping out. But Smoltz did pitch a hell of a game. If the Mets had taken 2 of 3 in the first two series like they could have, then losing this game wouldn’t be as annoying.
Honestly, it was as if the game was over at 1-0. Being down to the Braves, it feels as if this team says “oh no, not again,” and shrivels.

I just don’t think that’s the case. I think it’s in the fans heads more than the players. I do think that John Smoltz is in Wright’s head though. He looks awful facing him.

Please, do us all a favor and go cover the Yankees. That way, you can slobber all over Jeter and his 2,000 singles.
