Oliver Perez beat the Braves 11-1 earlier this year at Turner Field, and 3-1 with a 2.89 ERA in four starts against Atlanta while with the Mets.
The Mets have lost two in a row, but Perez isn’t thinking about that.
“This is an important game because it is in the division,” Perez said. “But I’m not thinking about the games we lost. In the games I pitched against them I was able to make my pitches. I have to do that again.”
Here’s what’s going on:
-Depending on how Orlando Hernandez feels from yesterday’s bullpen session, the Mets could announce he’s back in their rotation for this weekend. The thinking now is Friday and to push John Maine back a day.
-Lastings Milledge, on the minor league DL with a strained foot, is still a way off.
-Jose Valentin, on the DL with an ACL tear, hasn’t even started doing any baseball related activities.
-Once Moises Alou is activated from the DL, Carlos Gomez will go down. The Mets like his speed and defense, but Willie Randolph said he needs to play.
