“Jorge Sosa”:http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=6885 went 13-3 with a 2.55 ERA in 20 starts and 24 relief appearances for the Braves in 2005, and admits tonight’s start has an edge and he must be wary of not letting his emotions get the best of him.
“I’m excited, but I can’t think that way,” said Sosa (3-0 this season) about the revenge factor. “I just have to go down there and do my job.’’
Sosa was a frontrunner for the fifth-starter job, but faded early in spring training. He has since worked out a mechanical problem at Triple-A New Orleans.
He was striding toward first base which caused his shoulder to fly open and his pitches to sail. He’s now striding straight on and the pitches are consistently down in the zone.
If Sosa is too excited tonight, he will overthrow and his pitches will be up. It should be easy to spot.
