Mets Chat: Wrapping up a bad night edition

I agree with the idea the Mets were deflated after the four runs in the fourth. No life after that inning. None.
Carlos Delgado is really not showing any signs that he’s going to come out of this soon. His track record says he will, but eventually even great players have bad years.
As far as Maine goes, I still have faith in him, but a lot of you are right, it is too early to say he’s the next Seaver. He’s got a way to go.
To a man, the Mets say there will not be a letdown going into Atlanta. It will be interesting to see how they respond.

Not to let Maine off the hook on this one but if our RF gets to the ball its a different ball game.
This game was lost when Jose Reyes came up with the bases loaded in the 2nd after Maine got walked. When he flew out he let Clippard off the hook. A hit there, even a walk (it was a 3-1 count) would have changed the complexion of the game. They had the opportunity to open the game up and they didn’t do it.
Just wasn’t their night.
I’d rather they come out flat last night than tomorrow night. Hopefully a blah performance and a day off can be a nice little “reset” heading into atlanta.
No big deal. They won the series, picked up a game on the Braves. A sweep would have been cool. I would, of course, like to see Maine get back on track. Maybe against the Marlins.
Tip your hat to the Yankees Clippard. In a dismal pitching year for the Yankees, they’ve finally found a keeper.
...they´ve finally found a keeper?? Maybe just someone who didn´t get injured right away.
What they got was a good start in the pinch against one of their rivals. One game is not enough to say the guys a keeper. He did look good though.
I wonder what is up with Delgado. The obvious explanation is that his elbow is not healed. I don’t know though. He doesn’t seem to have any pain from it. His bat speed looks good. Maybe he is pressing too much.
I stand by my words. For the Yankees, if he breathes and can pitch without hurting his hamstring or breaking a finger, he’s a keeper.
Let down? In baseball it is so over rated. If Sosa has great stuff there will be no let down. If Sosa gets bombed everyone will say tomorrow that there was a let down. The Braves came off a tough week-end as well. Its not like they have KC for their phony rivalry weekend.
