In 1972, “Willie Mays”:http://www.baseball-reference.com/m/mayswi01.shtml drew a walk in the first and scored on a triple by Ted Martinez when he knocked the ball out of catcher John Boccabella’s glove. The ball bounced into the dugout which allowed Martinez to score. Mays and Martinez scored the only runs in a 2-1 victory over Montreal.
However, the shining moments for Mays in his return to New York were few. Coming home was a nice idea, but in reality it was sad to watch.
By the way, Mickey or Willie?
