There are two ways to look at John Maine. One, he got off to a bad start but settled down, which is encouraging. Second, this is three straight erratic starts for Maine. Too soon to be worried, but not too soon to be concerned.
Carlos Delgado was hit by Carlos Zambrano pitch and is day-to-day with a bruised right pinky. Maybe a couple of days off before the Yankees’ series wouldn’t hurt.
Post your thoughts on Maine and Delgado, or anything else on your mind. Talk with you tomorrow.

Is it too early to start asking how many crooked number innings, thanks to Schoe we have to endure before it’s considered a mistake. Twice to Atlanta and now this one that I can think of, we were still in this until he came in.
sucks that Gado was just starting to hit his rhythm…
Maine will be fine. He just has to find his cajones again… He’s a kid, so he loses them from time to time. Same with Pelfrey, but obviously a bit worse.
I doubt Maine will be in Cy Young discussions at the end of the year, but he will put up very good numbers for his first full season in the bigs, and probably win as many games as Glavine does.
What I like about this team is that they tend to confine their lousy performances to the same, individual game. It’s like once one guy lets down, they all let down together and take a collective nap. That’s fine, so long as they can pull it back together the next day.
John: Who sings “Happy”? Is it Keith or Mick Taylor?
after that kind of april, i was kind of waiting for maine to get shelled. he’s handled the shaky starts well, keeping the team within distance. hopefully last night will be a bit of an eye opener and he and rick “mullet” peterson can’t correct what’s going wrong. Duque should be coming back soon to take some pressure off the rotation and Sosa doesn’t look too bad. The rotation is still performing way beyond my expectations.
bruised pinky. listen i did some major yard work and lost 3 layers of skin and still had to do work and other things…
this guy is a millionare a bruised pinky?! sissy. (and i really mean it, its as bad as crying the blues about a hang nail) earn that 50 million!
Schoe – is looking more and more like trashel (ok maybe not , i just needed a reason to mention TRASH ). for someone thats supposed to bail us out i dont know what the issue is…
maine, this is all a learning experience. and he did even out and get movement back on the ball. he was taken out for offensive reasons. which didnt pan out. the mets have been doing this against the division leaders. they get womped one game because of over confidence or being lackadaisical. then they wake up and win the rest. The lost will only help him get better. I rather he get this off his chest and become stronger from it then it happen in the championships and he falls completely apart.
For all the talk this year about speed and all our all star 3rd baseman of all people is 2nd in steals on this team of rabbits.
it takes confidence in the batter at the plate for the runner to steal. unless they are so good and fast they have no fear. you need a batter that will defend the plate if the count warrants it.
we need to cut the “down-looking” . i rather get p-oed at a swing and a miss then seeing you know who watch a perfect pitch down the pipe for strike 3.
:-\
oh well..
To Benny,
It’s Keith, that’s considered his signature song, you should know that.
Mick Taylor sings lead vocals on no songs. We also, reported in many Stones books, wrote several songs on the Exile/Goats Head Soup albums and didn’t recieve credit for them.
Sorry, Should read “He Also”
Wow!!!!!!! You guys are talking Stones. I love it. I was listening to Beggar’s Banquet on the way to the park today. When I talk about my favorite Shea moments it would be seeing them twice here.
The only reason I ask is because I heard a Mick Taylor song (“Leather Jacket” or something like that?) on XM yesterday and it had a “Happy”-like vibe to it. I was pretty sure Keith sang “Happy,” but it was amazing how much the Mick Taylor song sounded like it.
