Sometimes taking a walk could be just the thing for a hitter to snap out of a slump. Carlos Delgado’s 10-pitch at-bat turned into a bases-loaded walk that drove in the winning run.
Walks are a sign of patience and Delgado has been saying he’s been too anxious and pulling off the ball. And, fouling off several pitches in a row to stay alive is a sign he’s staying on the ball.
I’m not saying he’s hitting three out tomorrow, but when your slump is now going on two months you hold on to what you can.
