Mike Pelfrey is on his way to New Orleans as I write this … who knows, he could be in the air now.
Anyway, after yesterday’s mauling, Pelfrey was optioned to Triple-A. I think it was a good call. He was getting hammered, and with his climbing ERA was his declining confidence.
He’ll be back soon enough, but it was clear he was lost up here. He was promoted faster than most, and that had a lot to do with Mets’ pitching problems. As for Thursday, if not Orlando Hernandez, then there are other 3-A choices, such as Jason Vargas or Phil Humber.
They could even give the ball to Aaron Sele.
Anyway, moving Pelfrey was the right move. Your thoughts?
