Remember the scene in Stripes when the recruits get buzz cuts? That was the Mets’ clubhouse yesterday after David Wright showed up clean shaven. Shawn Green, David Newhan and Jorge Sosa had the most dramatic look.
Newhan jokingly protested, “but I have the best hair in the league.’’
“Yeah, right,’’ said Green when told he didn’t look that bad. “Seriously,’’ said Tom Glavine, “it’s not as bad as I thought it would be.’’
Glavine, Aaron Sele, Aaron Heilman and Jose Reyes were the lone holdouts. Glavine said he’d do it after the game; Sele plans to go home on the offday to get family portraits done, but will get trimmed when he gets back; Heilman and Reyes could get it done after BP.
Best line: “We obviously can’t do a drug promo warning againts peer pressure,’’ said Scott Schoenenweis.

great move by the mets…there has been a lack of team unity lately or seemingly so…based on yesterday’s poor outing, this team ought to show some unity now
I love it. Nowadays you dont see that anymore. Same with the rally caps I see the Mets wear when need be. I might be wrong but I havent seen any team do that in a long time. Maybe somebody can correct me.
Hi John—You mentioned the unseasonable heat wave in the Bay area. Obviously, the Mets haircuts are the result.
What about Pedro? They could do it in the 7th inning, from Wilpon’s box…errr….nevermind =)
Adam – Great Post!
