Carlos Beltran said his left quad isn’t full strength, but good enough for him to play. But, how good he’s not sure.
“It’s all right,’’ Beltran said. “It’s the same.’’
Which means he can’t let out the throttle. Speed is a big part of Beltran’s game, but running straight in the outfield with little change of direction is different than running with short bursts and the quick starts and stops he would have on the bases.
How aggressive will he be?
“It all depends on how I feel,’’ Beltran said. “If I feel tight, I won’t run. If I feel like I can run I will.’’

I don’t like this – his first season as a Met was dereailed by a sore quad. I’d rest him.
He has had this every year as a Met, not sure before that. I wish he didn’t get it at all, but it’s never amounted to much more than an extra day off now and again.
no later than they say how important it is to shut down the opponents right after your team scores than perez gives up a homer.
he’s still pitching a good game, but he needs to focus.
That wasn’t a homer. MLB needs some instant replay, at the very least on HR calls, twice in just a couple days we’ve had a call go against us on that. Unbelievable.
oh well maybe not.
willie is not happy
i disagree. the games are long enuf. havent we learned from the nfl that they take 15 mins and still cant make the call?
the umps are part of the game, good or bad.
If they were to add replay for certain calls I’d just have an extra “umpire” who sat in a booth and reviewed the questionable play immediately, and could just signal the correct call to the guys on the field. With all the money MLB is making I’m sure they can afford the extra guy.
