ANALYSIS: John Maine continues to show he’s the real deal, giving up a run in six innings. He could have gone longer, but was taken out for a pinch-hitter. Maine has worked into the seventh in four of six starts to so far answer the question about his ability to give the Mets innings. He’s second in the rotation pecking order behind Tom Glavine, but has certainly been the club’s most consistent pitcher.
NOTEBOOK
-At 48 years, eight months and 12 days, Julio Franco extended his record as being the oldest player in history to hit a homer. Franco also stole a base in the ninth inning.
-Moises Alou did not play because of a sore left knee and might not play tomorrow, either.
-The victory was the Mets’ 12th straight here, extending their record for longest road winning streak at any one venue.
-Jorge Sosa (4-0, 1.13 ERA at Triple-A New Orleans) will be brought up to start tomorrow night.
-Endy Chavez landed awkwardly on his right ankle trying to keep Orlando Hudson’s eighth-inning homer in the park. The Mets are anxious to see how it responds overnight.
