Ok, they lost. But two good things came out of the game. The first was Mike Pelfrey. The second was David Wright.
I thought they might send Pelfrey to New Orleans right there in the first, but he regrouped and was a different pitcher after the inning. Believe me, I know, one good game doesn’t mean a turnaround, but we have to be encouraged by what we saw.
Pelfrey was overthrowing his fastball, but Tom Glavine has been telling him to take something off instead. Apparently, it worked.
Wright stung the ball. He went the other way on pitches off the plate and turned on those inside. We know he wasn’t going to be in a funk forever. Maybe he read all your comments earlier. You have to consider all the possibilities … right?
Anyway, they wouldn’t be the Mets if there wasn’t something. The concern now is with Aaron Heilman. He says he’s fine, but I have to believe something isn’t right with his elbow.
