Update from Kevin at Shea:
If I were you were guys, I’d be very concerned about David Wright.
Not only is he mired in a miserable 4 for 35 (.114) slump, he’s getting booed by the Shea Stadium fans. Yes folks, in case you didn’t hear it at home, the Golden Boy got booed after his seventh inning strikeout tonight.
Wright has never struggled in his career, so this was expected at some point. But he’s clearly trying to hard. He swung at a terrible pitch in the seventh inning and helped run the Mets out of a rally. They were down 8-4 at the time and had runners on first and second with nobody out.
They’re down 9-4 now, heading for a tough loss.
I’ll check back after the game with a postgame report.
