In-game update: Wright in trouble

Update from Kevin at Shea:
If I were you were guys, I’d be very concerned about David Wright.
Not only is he mired in a miserable 4 for 35 (.114) slump, he’s getting booed by the Shea Stadium fans. Yes folks, in case you didn’t hear it at home, the Golden Boy got booed after his seventh inning strikeout tonight.
Wright has never struggled in his career, so this was expected at some point. But he’s clearly trying to hard. He swung at a terrible pitch in the seventh inning and helped run the Mets out of a rally. They were down 8-4 at the time and had runners on first and second with nobody out.
They’re down 9-4 now, heading for a tough loss.
I’ll check back after the game with a postgame report.

He, in my opinion, was the goat in tonight’s game. A base hit in the first inning with two men on changes the whole game. Or a hit in the third with the same two on gets them right back in the game after the Marlins scored five.
He left 6 men on. If he got half of them in they’d still be playing. I understand that they won’t always get it done, but at this point DW hasn’t gotten anything done so far this season.
John, how come Gotay was called up instead of Anderson Hernandez?
Hernandez is batting .208 with 8 errors…
He is doing that well?
I am surprised at him. In winter ball he was a terror. Then in spring something happened..
Dave
PS
John, whats up with this site? It was complaining I am posting too fast. this software you guys have is truly terrible. You need to get your money back.
About Wright, who isn’t worried? Even those of us who claim we aren’t are. It was always painful to watch Piazza struggle, and it’s even worse with your own homegrown superstar. The only difference here is that Wright doesn’t have to carry the offense the way Piazza did…
I know Green has never been the most animated player, but he needs to share this relaxed at the plate secret he’s learned with Wright and Delgado. Unless Wright breaks out it tomorrow night Willie should probably give him a day off on Wednesday. He’s played every game so far, and he’d have a chance to start fresh in ARZ where he and the Mets have always hit well…
I don’t get it John. You say, “If I were you were guys, I’d be very concerned about David Wright.” Then, a few sentences later you write, “Wright has never struggled in his career, so this was expected at some point.” Are you indicating that struggles were expected and he will not snap out of it? If not, then why should we be “very concerned”?
