A lot of things happened tonight. If you stayed for the whole show, give us your review of the night.
Talk with you tomorrow.
I didn’t get to see the game until the extra innings started because I was in a concert, but it was good from the 9th on. Franco comes through in the clutch again, so he should be proving his worth to people on this blog. Gutsy move by Willie to pinch hit for Sele in the 12th with his last remaining position player, Castro, when Sele had only pitched 1 1/3 and could have stayed in to bunt. Then, a great bunt by Reyes gets the ball rolling for four runs. I would like to see Wagner do better with Castro behind the plate though. I believe I heard last year that most of Wagner’s blown saves were with Castro back there; do you know anything of this, John? Hopefully the offense gets back on a roll after this game.
Hi John –
Saw this whole game.
Tom Glavine was pedantic as usual. I still see him as a bland Brave, but his pitching was Glavine at his best. He simply kept us in the game. You’ve got to respect Glavine’s work and his persona on the mound – very professional.
I learn more about Willie every time I see him. I am almost positive that the Willie vs. the umpire scene was on purpose to jump-start his guys. If so, it worked.
In the late innings Julio Franco took on a leadership role and the team got really fired up and exploded – hitting and running for a final score of 6-2. The top of the order kicked into gear and were fun to watch – big smiles all around.
Anyone who missed these late innings missed how Willie’s Mets can pull together as a team and win games.
They’re really Amazin’ at times.
You mean, Jerry Manuel’s Mets pulled together, right?
Great game, what a comeback, and that ump owed us that call for Easley’s infield hit. Great job coming back from Willie’s ejection and tying it up with our final strike on the line. We were lucky enough and talented enough to be able to win the game, and the players probably went back to the hotel happy and excited, but very, very tired.
Any new news on valentin?
awful job by the home plate ump, he was 0 for 4, so you can’t feel bad about one of those calls coming our way.
Ironically this was the Mets best managed game of the year so far. Maybe Willie should try managing from the clubhouse more often.. ;)
make that the first base ump, obviously
