Yup, a miserable first inning for Oliver Perez. No getting around it. But, if the Mets come back and win, a key has to be him pulling it together and keeping the game close.
He’s given up four runs through six innings. If his line ends there, the Mets would take it every night, liking the chances of their offense to beat four.

Terrible game. Just awful. Why didn’t Willie pinch hit for Perez in the 6th?
Shawn Green’s my goat for the game – twice he came up with a runner on second and nobody out (6th and 8th), and twice he failed to get him over.
By the way, it’s absolutely uncanny how Green seems to be in the middle of every close Mets loss.
I don’t blame him as much tonight. He did get two hits. Reyes was probably worse tonight.
That’s not something I say too often.
