John here. Had the night off and watched the first part of the game—took a break to watch 24—then caught the end.
John Maine came to spring training with this question: Can he go from promise to consistency? The answer is positive after four starts, as in three of them he’s gone to the seventh or longer.
He’s not Jim Palmer yet, but there’s a lot to like about him and my concern level for him is low. When he pitches I expect a good game.

I agree. He grew up in the playoffs last year and continued with the spring and now the season.
He is low key and works hard. I like him. The Mets like him too to the tune of 9 runs per game.
