Tom Glavine has been sharper. I don’t know if he’s being squeezed as some suggested. He’s walked more than normal, but some of that has to be attributed to the cold. His best start was Opening Day in St. Louis, and not coincidentally, that was the warmest day he’s worked.
Glavine gave up six hits and five walks in six innings. What he did best was stay low in the strikezone with runners on base, which got him double-plays in the first, second and sixth innings.
