With tonight’s rainout, the Mets have juggled their rotation:
Tuesday at Philly-Tom Glavine
Wednesday at Florida-John Maine
Thursday at Florida-Orlando Hernandez
Friday vs. Atlanta-Mike Pelfrey
Saturday vs. Atlanta-Oliver Perez
Sunday vs. Atlanta-Tom Glavine
I like this on several levels. First, I like splitting up Glavine and Hernandez. I pencil in both for six, so this could give the bullpen a break. Second, now you’re not going more than two games before Glavine or Hernandez start. I think that makes for better balance.
Now, you’re effectively making Oliver Perez the fifth starter, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Based on what I’ve seen, I’d rather give the ball an extra time to Pelfrey.
