Update from Kevin at Shea:
Tom Glavine had pitched back-to-back scoreless innings and seems to finally feel comfortable on a frigid night at Shea Stadium.
Glavine has given up two homers to Phillies leadoff man Jimmy Rollins and the Mets trail 3-2 entering the bottom of the fourth. Early on, it looked like Glavine couldn’t spot his pitches with his usual precision and Philadelphia was either hitting the ball hard or walking. Finally, he seems to be comfortable.
If you remember, though, Glavine didn’t locate his breaking pitches well at all against Atlanta last weekend. So, maybe there’s reason to be concerned.
The bottom of the Mets order is due up here in the fourth. Alou just led off with a double, so let’s see if they get something cooking here.
I don’t know how much more Glavine has left, by the way. He’s thrown a 70 pitches and it’s cold. We’ll see.
