Another update from Kevin:
Oliver Perez’s attempt to sabotage the Mets’ chances of winning this game have not worked. They only trail the Phillies 3-2 after five innings tonight at Shea.
You can thank veteran right-hander Aaron Sele for that. He’s been steady since Perez left after walking seven and hitting another in 2 2/3 innings.
When I heard Sele was on the roster in spring training, I thought for sure he would end up a starting pitcher. Instead, he was sent to the bullpen where he just might be this year’s version of Darren Oliver  the unheralded middle reliever who eats up innings and quietly keeps the Mets within reach of winning games.
We’ll see how Sele finishes up. I think he’s got a few more innings left him.
Prediction: Mets win this game 5-4 in a walkoff. Just a hunch.
